SUMMARY:4th of July is for Pie - Baking Contest
DESCRIPTION:4TH OF JULY IS FOR PIE!\n  \nContest Rules and Information \nPrizes   \n1st Ribbon\, $50 \n2nd Ribbon\, $25 \n3rd Ribbon and $10 \n  \nCategories – Any dessert pie\, from blueberry and Rhubarb to Pecan and Buckeye\, to the classic apple! From single crust to double crust\, all are welcome! \nHomemade Pie Contest Rules  \n\nThis contest is open to bakers of all ages! Youth Division 0-16\, Adult is 17+\nPies must be entered in the name of the person who made it.\nContestant may enter up to three pies.\nEach Pie must be made from scratch and based in a 9” – 10” pie plate/pan. You may not use pre-made store-bought crust.\n\nEnter a Pie  \n\nBring your Pie to the contest site\, at EsoTerra Ciderworks; 558 Main Ave\, Durango CO between noon and 2:00 pm on July 5th\, 2024.  At this time your pie will be given an entry number\, and judges will not be attending drop-off hours\, thus maintaining the confidentiality of the bakers.\nFill out the registration form.  A) Acknowledge that the entered pies become the property of the 4th of July is for Pie Contest and that you do not get your pie back. B) If you win you give your permission to have your photo taken during the announcement ceremony and have it used for Pie Contest and Future 4th of July is for Pie promotions!\n\nJudging  \n\nJudging will start at 4:30 pm. Judges will not be present at the contest tent while pies are delivered to ensure confidentiality of the bakers.\nJudging area will be “off limits” to all but Judges and Pie Contest Committee members.\nMinimum of three Judges\nCriteria – Each pie will be judged on the following\, out of 100 possible pointsOverall Appearance – points 1-20\nCrust – Color\, Texture\, Doneness\, Flavor – points 1-20\nFilling – Consistency\, Doneness\, Moistness\, Flavor – points 1-20\nFlavor – points 1-20\nCreativity – points 1-15\nCOSTUME – 5 points for dressing festive!\nScoring\n– Each judge assigns a numerical value in each criteria category\, without consultation with the other judges.\n– The pie receiving the highest total numerical value is the winner. The Pie Contest Committee will tally the judging sheets.\n– In the case of a tie\, the judges will judge those pies again.\n– The decision of the judges is final.\nWinners will be announced after the judging is complete on the EsoTerra Patio.\n\nDeposition of Pies – all pies become the property of the EsoTerra Ciderworks Pie Contest committee. After judging\, pies will be sliced and sold to the general public and proceeds will be used to preserve Colorado’s  historic apple trees!
